Dunleith MILE Students Complete Invent 2010, May 14![]() Dunleith Elementary 3rd grade MILE students recently completed their Invent 2010 unit after weeks of studying inventors and inventions. The students presented their inventions on Thomas Edison Day (May 14) and had a great time with their inventions. The essays and related self-portraits were on display in the school cafeteria. Miss Angie, the Dunleith Cafeteria Manager, discovered that three of the students had aspirations of becoming chefs. She invited them to spend a day in their dream job. Rotary Visits Dunleith - Supports Literacy, Mar. 24 ![]() Members of the Rotary Club of Marietta recently visited 2nd graders at Dunleith Elementary in support of Marietta Reads! Dunleith 5th Graders Attend African Children’s Choir, Mar. 9![]() Thanks to a grant from Target, Ms. Shinall’s fifth graders at Dunleith Elementary School recently attended a performance of the African Children’s Choir. With the help of the fifth grade teachers, students raised $200 to give the choir as a donation. A few students also visited back stage and met the members of the choir. Dunleith Awarded Georgia Aquarium SEA, Feb. 19 ![]() Dunleith Elementary is the recipient of a Georgia Aquarium SEA (Sponsored Education Admissions) award entitling the school’s 4th grade class to visit the Georgia Aquarium. Students participated in the Wings in the Water program, a behind the scenes tour and a screening of the 3-D film Deepo. Dunleith PASS - Parent Workshop Success, Feb. 11 ![]() A group of Dunleith Elementary parents recently completed Parents Assuring Student Success (PASS). This program, taught by Forrestella Taylor, Dunleith’s Assistant Principal, and Cynthia Tapia, Dunleith’s Parent Liaison recognizes the importance of parental involvement in education and focuses on academic achievement rather than life-skills parenting. PASS also helps parents improve their ability to provide a productive learning environment for their children. |
Dunleith “Let’s make a change in Haiti” Fundraiser, Feb. 4![]() Dunleith Elementary National Junior Beta Club members recently sponsored a fundraiser to help Haiti earthquake victims. “Let’s make a change in Haiti” was a huge success! At their Feb. 4 assembly, the school presented a check for $1,601.15 to a representative from the Red Cross. “We are very proud of our students and staff for their contributions,” said Tiffany Pollock, principal of Dunleith Elementary. Dunleith Hosts Math Night, Feb. 2 ![]() Dunleith Elementary recently hosted Math Night prior to the school’s PTA meeting and 4th & 5th grade musical performance. Dunleith Math Night featured a special make and take math activity for each grade level. Parents also received grade-specific information regarding Georgia Performance Standards (GPS), and tips on how to support their children at home. Dunleith Education Partner Supports Literacy, Feb. 1 ![]() Dunleith Elementary Partner in Education, Eddie Shelton, owner of Smoothie King on Whitlock opened car doors and greeted parents and children as they arrived at school on a brisk Monday morning. Shelton also read to kindergarten students in support of the school’s literacy efforts. |
